As you may have guessed from my previous post, I visited the Louvre today. My student card is an all-access pass to most galleries, the Louvre being no exception. Unfortunately, my ability to visit the Louvre whenever has also taken away from the museum’s allure.
Watching tourists running (sometimes literally) through the halls is like watching dogs chase a flock of pigeons. After paying the entrance fee, tourists are so eager to see every famous artwork on display that there appears to be little appreciation for the art itself. Having said that, everyone loves it! I daresay I am jealous of their enthusiasm.
And thanks to those who live through their cameras, nearly every corner of the Louvre is documented and accessible online. Above is a photo that may be a little harder to find on the internet (but maybe not).
The famous Louvre clip from Godard’s 1964 film, Band of Outsiders.
