…is the new Amos Gitai installation in the basement of the Palais de Tokyo.
From the publicity statement:
[Gitai’s] films, which are dominated by questions of identity and exile as well as memory and history, encourage the public to consider the past and present, the necessity of the transmission of memory, and the role of art.
The aesthetic is magnificent! As previously demonstrated during the Sophie Calle installation, the unfinished basement is perfectly suited to themes dealing with memory and identity. Gitai’s clips are projected onto rough, uneven surfaces. It is the imperfection of the exhibition space that gives life to the installation.
Traces is on display from 12h-21h at Palais de Tokyo until April 10th. (http://www.palaisdetokyo.com/)
I suggest going after sunset.
